Majlis Ash-Shura, 1367 A.H.

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful,

From Saud bin Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman,

To vice president of Majlis Ash-Shura, His Excellency, Abdulla Al-Faisal, may Allah keep him.

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you,

We read the report of Majlis Ash-Shura and its actions during 1366 A.H., submitted to us with the number 1113 on 26/12/1366 A.H. We submitted that to His Majesty the glorified King. Due to his trust in the loyalty of the Majlis, and due to the Majlis’ experience, commended efforts, and good actions shown this year as well as previous years generating His Majesty’s gratitude and appreciation, His Majesty, in return to this trust, issued his royal decision to extend the work of the Majlis for another year starting in Moharram, 1367 A.H. I ask Allah to grant them success in seeking the wellbeing of the country and the people.

Then the Honor Crown Prince, Prince Saud bin Abdul Aziz, inaugurated the 18th session of the Majlis,

In the name of Allah and on behalf of the Majesty of our glorified King, he delivered the following word:

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful,

Honorable members of Majlis Ash-Shura,

I greet all of you, and congratulate you of the trust of our glorified King. You deserve that you trust which he granted you a year after another.

His Majesty as well as people obtained a lot of the fruits of your actions and efficiency. Your schedule of the last year submitted to his Majesty our glorified King is full of important matters that help in organizing the affairs of the state, and the luxury and comfort of the people.

Now that we are receiving a new year, I ask Allah that He makes it a year of goodness and benefits for the whole world and for this country in specific. I want to clarify something to you about the schedule the government and you would execute in every matter of construction, knowledge, pilgrimage, health and defense.

Each branch of them has been prepared a schedule and a balance. The Majlis would be presented with every matter that is within its specialization for consideration and approving. The project of the water of Jeddah is over, praise be to Allah. There is a project to establish a harbor in Jeddah, and another one to extend water pipes to keep water clean and uncontaminated. There are other projects to pave new roads from Arafat to Mecca and other areas. The government is so much concerned to raise the living standards of people and decreasing the prices of food and providing it for everybody. It is doing its best for the luxury of its people. The department of knowledge is also doing its best, establishing more schools and doubling its balance a year after another. Ministry of Defense under the Excellency of brother Mansour, is increasingly preparing the army with gratitude that every loyal person to his country is satisfied with, and every Arab is proud of. Concerning our foreign policy, thanks be to Allah, that it is based on good relations with all other countries, and that we have respected prestige among them. The Arab League, which was established and brought up due to the mutual help of Arab countries, would achieve the Arab nation its goals and purposes by the will of Allah.

Finally, I ask Allah that He leads you towards goodness, and makes all of us succeed in serving this beloved country under the Majesty of our glorified King, may Allah sustain him and saves him for the Arabs and Moslems.

Then, on behalf of the Majlis, the member of the Majlis Sheikh Ahmad bin Ibrahim Al-Ghazzawy, delivered the following speech:

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful,

Your glorified Esquire,

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you,

Majlis Ash-Shura, which has the honor of the presidency of the Excellency of Prince Faisal, and which has the care of Allah and the support of the Majesty our exalted King your father stands in high regard, glorification, and joy for this high direction. This valuable trust has always urged each of us to do every possible effort to honestly and persistently achieve the royal eminent goals. These goals aim to the advancement of this country, the luxury of its people, the peacefulness of its land, and the development of its progress, the rise of its culture and to go ahead with brotherly peoples till it reaches its fitting position among contemporary nations.

Our exalted Prince,

The Majlis and all its members deeply thank this care and this support. It is totally certain that this care it receives from the glorified Majesty of the King, and from your Excellency, and from the Excellency of attorney general was never directed to persons as much as it was a motivation to duplicate work, and continue acting to provide means of well-being and reforming in every facility in the country. We are unable to do any duty without this grace by his Majesty, which has 2 goals:

First: to bestow honor upon this country and its people and granting them all that leads to prosperity, satisfaction, and glory. Secondly: to encourage the Majlis to be deserving the trust and support of his Majesty by giving sincere advice, and exert the most possible efforts to follow his steps and achieve his big hopes. Before coming to an end with this statement, it is right to talk in public about the support of your Esquire, and the support of the Excellency of Prince Faisal, and the great efforts he exerts for the sake of the country, and the aids from both Excellencies of Prince Mansour and Prince Abdulla Al-Faisal. We appreciate the tasks by all ministries, and general administrations for the sake of public interests. We pray for Allah that he leads all of us to perform our duties under this trust and this encouragement. We ask Allah, glorified and exalted be He, that he sustains the life of his Majesty and your Excellency and all members of the exalted members of the royal family in service of religion. We hope that he helps you to achieve the goodness of the country and the nation and to make victory and success accompanying your glorious flags, Allah is All-Hearing, Hearkener of prayers”.
