Vice Speaker of Portuguese Parliament, Dr. Teresa Caeiro, received at the Parliament's headquarters here yesterday the delegation of Saudi-Portuguese Joint Friendship Committee of the Shura Council, currently on a visit to the Republic of Portugal headed by the Shura Council 's Member and Vice Chairman of the Committee Assaf bin Salem Abuthneni.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Caeiro welcomed the delegation's members of the Shura Council, confirming the Portuguese government's desire to enhance relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in various fields in the service of the two countries' interests especially, economy, education, medicine, culture and literature.

For his part, the Head of Saudi the Shura Council 's Delegation Assaf Abuthneni expressed, on behalf of the members of the delegation, their thanks to the Portuguese Parliament vice speaker for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to them.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Portugal in various fields, especially parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Portuguese Parliament.

They also confirmed the importance of activating the role of Parliamentary Friendship Committees in both Saudi the Shura Council and Portuguese Parliament because of their active roles in promoting these relations and pushing them forward to serve the common interests.
