Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Receives UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom

Vice- Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Mishal bin Fahm Al-Sulami, met today in Riyadh, with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom, Natalie Foster, and her accompanying delegation.*Dr. Al-Sulami praised the UN's role and its message, which aims to achieve security, peace, stability, and prosperity around the world, adding that the Kingdom, as a founding member of the United Nations, supports the work and mission of the UN.*He briefed the UN official about the work mechanisms of the Shura Council, its committees and members, and its discussions of issues referred to the council by the government or by members of the Council, in addition to the role the Council plays in parliamentary and diplomatic efforts with the international and regional parliamentary bodies, parliaments and friendship committees in other countries.*The Deputy Speaker also highlighted the "Kingdom's Vision 2030" and its objectives and the comprehensive development renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom, and the major projects and qualitative initiatives announced by HRH the Crown Prince, which caused a qualitative leap that placed the Kingdom among the developed countries.*The UN Resident Coordinator expressed her appreciation for the warm reception, highly valued the support provided by the Saudi government to the United Nations and its multiple agencies, and praised the Kingdom’s great development in all fields and noted over the past four years since she was assumed her UN position in the Kingdom.
