The Vice Speaker of the Shura Council Meets with the Delegation of the Political and Security Committee of the European Union

His Excellency the Vice Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Sulami, met at the Shura Council seat with a delegation of members of the Political and Security Committee of the European Union, headed by the Chairwoman of the Committee, Delfine Brunk, and ambassadors from 27 member states of the European Union, along with the EU Special Representative for the Gulf, Luigi Di Maio, and the EU Ambassador to the Kingdom, Christoph Farno.*
At the beginning of the meeting, the Vice Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed the delegation, reviewing the Shura Council's oversight and legislative role and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation and supporting bilateral relations.
The delegation praised the significant developments taking place in the Kingdom in various fields and the Kingdom's Vision 2030.*
During the meeting, the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the European Union were reviewed, as well as ways to enhance parliamentary work between the Shura Council and the European Parliament; in a way that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between the two sides. A number of topics of common interest were also discussed.*
The meeting was attended by the following members of the Shura Council: Chairman of the Security and Military Affairs Committee, Lieutenant General Awad Al-Balawi; Chairman of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Mr. Mohammed Al-Humaidhi; Vice Chairman of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Dr. Mutab Al-Mutairi; Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Dr. Adel Mirdad; Vice Chairman of the Education and Scientific Research Committee, Dr. Rima Al-Yahya; Member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the European Parliament, Dr. Laila Fada; and Ambassador and Head of the Kingdom’s Mission to the European Union, Haifa Al-Jedaie.
