Deputy-Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Mishaal bin Faham Assulami met the EU representative for the Guld Region Mr. Luigi Di Maio, at the headquarter of Shura Council in Riyadh.*At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Mishaal Assulami welcomed Mr. Luigi Di Maio and congratulated him on his appointment as a EU representative for the Gulf Region. The Dr. reviewed the oversight and legislative roles of the Shura Council as well as its Parliamentary-Diplomacy role. He also touched upon the effective participation of the Shura Council in international and national parliamentary forums which reflects the great role of the Kingdom in the pursuit of security and safety in the region and the world.*His Excellency the Representative of UE for the Gulf Region praised the crucial role the Kingdom is playing in achieving security and safety, the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its various programs, and the Saudi initiatives relating to the climate change and environmental challenges.*During the meeting, many topics of common interest were discussed, especially those relating to the parliament and ways to strengthen constructive cooperation between Shura Council and the European Parliament.*Several members of the Shura Council attended the meeting; chairman of Committee on Investment and Trade, His Excellency Dr. Fahad Attukhaifi, chairman of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship with the European Parliament Dr. Ayman Fadel, member of Committee on Foreign Affairs His Excellency Mr. Aqla Alaqla, and member of the Saudi Parliamentary Friendship with the European Parliament Dr. Ameera Alblewi.
