Saudi-British Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Shura Council Meets with British Delegation

The Saudi-British Parliamentary Friendship Committee of Majlis Al-Shura, led by Prince Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah bin Mishari, Chairman of the committee, met with a delegation from the Group of the Middle East of the British Conservative Party headed by Member of Parliament Alan Duncan.

At the outset of the meeting, Prince Dr. Khalid welcomed the British delegation, stressing strong relations binding the two countries in all fields.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom in addition to the latest developments in the region.

The two sides also discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the parliamentary field and activation of the two parliamentary friendship committees.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials.

In a press conference, UK Member of Parliament Alan Duncan expressed pleasure for meeting the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

He also lauded the great progress witnessed by Majlis Al-Shura, stressing that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is taking the right direction towards development. He invited the members of Majlis Al-Shura to visit London.

Duncan has lauded the great role and initiatives made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism, citing the establishment of the Islamic Military Alliance to Combat Terrorism.

He also lauded the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in settling peace in the Middle East and the world, hoping that Iran does not interfere in the GCC internal affairs and the Arab countries.

He expressed admiration of the plans made by the Kingdom in the economic transformation process to reduce dependence on oil.

Regarding the situation in Yemen, Duncan announced that his country supports dialogue between the legitimate government and Houthis to stop fighting.
