Delegation of the Shura Council Meets with Senator John McCain and Senator Dianne Feinstein

Senator John McCain, Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Armed Services, has expressed his appreciation of the great efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for supporting legitimacy in Yemen and protecting the Yemeni people from the Houthi militias.

He also expressed concern over the Iranian regime's policies in the Arab region and its interferences in the internal affairs of some countries in the region.

This came during a meeting between the delegation of Majlis Al-Shura led by Dr. Mohammed bin Ameen Al-Jeffri, Vice Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura, and Senator John McCain in Washington yesterday.

During the meeting, John McCain also stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an important state in combating terrorism, expressing regret that the international community ignored the criminal offenses committed by Bashar Al-Assad against the Syrian people.

For his part, Dr. Al-Jeffri thanked Senator John McCain for his noble stances towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He also lauded the historic and strategic relations binding the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

Al-Jeffri also highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab coalition's efforts in Yemen which came in response to appeal of the Yemeni President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi for supporting the Yemeni people against Houthi and Saleh coup militias, pointing out the Kingdom's efforts in the field of combating terrorism.

Within the visit, the delegation of the Shura Council also met with US Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator at the Intelligence Committee of the Senate.

During the meeting, Senator Dianne Feinstein has lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts towards the Syrian people against Al-Assad regime.

He also stressed importance of exchanging visits between the two countries.

For his part, Dr. Al-Jeffri briefed Senator Feinstein on the Shura Council and its work mechanism and missions.

He also disclosed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's stance towards the Yemeni people, pointing out that the military intervention came in accordance with the international law and support. He also confirmed that the Kingdom supports a peaceful solution in Yemen due to the Security Council resolution no. 2216, GCC initiative and outputs of the national dialogue.

Al-Jeffri also highlighted the Kingdom and the Arab coalition's efforts in supporting legitimacy in Yemen.

The Vice Speaker of the Shura Council also pointed out the Kingdom's efforts towards the Syrian people and its supportive stance for their issue, stressing that the Kingdom hosted about 2.5 million Syrians on the Saudi territories. He highlighted that the Kingdom dealt with the Syrian people on its territories as guests, granted them a right of residence and provided a free education for their children in the governmental schools as well as free healthy services for them.

Later, the delegation of the Shura Council visited Arab Gulf States Institute.
